On February 11, 2026, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Executive Committee (NEC) removed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the Secretary General.

This decision sparked a heated debate and backlash online. His ouster has fueled speculation about internal wrangles within ODM and their impact on the party’s future.

Sifuna has been drawing large crowds at rallies such as the Linda Mwananchi event in Kitengela, where his speeches have been compared to historic Kenyan political figures. Commentators describe him as a “political firestorm” reshaping the opposition narrative.
