Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has reassured the public that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains firmly part of the broad-based government alongside the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking during the disbursement of the Nyota Fund in Kisumu on February 2, 2026, an event attended by President William Ruto, Oburu dismissed claims of power‑sharing disputes within the government.

He criticized what he termed misleading “share narratives,” insisting that the partnership between ODM and UDA remains intact.

“That person of shares had said that since we did not vote for you, we cannot benefit from your government,” Oburu remarked.

Addressing supporters, Oburu reiterated his commitment to economic transformation, using his familiar metaphor of leading them to “Canaan through Singapore.” He noted that the Nyota Fund initiative mirrors successful empowerment programs in Singapore, emphasizing its potential to uplift small businesses and youth.

“And I will assure you, I will take you to Canaan, and that Canaan we shall reach through Singapore,” he said.

Oburu further revealed that ODM plans to engage UDA in additional talks to negotiate better terms within the broad-based government, stressing the party’s determination to secure more benefits for its supporters.

President William Ruto echoed Oburu’s sentiments, confirming that discussions would be held to review and formalize agreements guiding cooperation between the two political outfits.

“You have allowed me and Oburu to talk… to plan as Baba instructed us? And that Canaan we are going to, but through Singapore,” said President Ruto.

The Kisumu meeting comes amid political debate over the future and structure of the broad-based government.
