During the launch of the Professional Association of Nyanza (PANY) Women's strategic plan for 2024-2028 at Serena Hotel in Nairobi, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto demonstrated her support by donating Sh1 million to the organization.

She praised the women for their proactive approach and encouraged them to continue their efforts in uplifting the women of Nyanza and Kenya as a whole.

Mama Rachel also commended the association's logo, which depicts a woman with hair shaped like Africa, symbolizing the women's role in carrying the continent forward. She urged the members to extend their influence beyond Nyanza to encompass Kenya and Africa as a whole.

Mama Rachel highlighted Kenya's progress in promoting women's rights and opportunities, citing legislative measures and policy initiatives aimed at achieving gender equality and empowering women.

She specifically mentioned programs such as the Elimu Tuikakayo Programme and the Girls' Education Challenge Fund as significant milestones in this regard.

President William Ruto's recent announcement to increase funding for the Women Enterprise Fund was also acknowledged by Mama Rachel, who emphasized the importance of expanding opportunities for women.

She noted the digitization of the application process for the fund, streamlining the process and eliminating barriers.

Mama Rachel also recognized other avenues for women's empowerment, including the Hustler Fund and the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) program, which prioritizes women, youth, and people with disabilities.

The leadership of PANY Women likened the organization to a "pestle and mortar," symbolizing the unity of African women and their collective effort towards common goals.

The event was attended by notable figures such as Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, ICT CS and PANY Patron Eliud Owalo, Gender CS Aisha Jumwa, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, Labour CS Florence Bore, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, and Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss, among others.
