• A village in Silibwet, Bomet County, is in shock after a man went on the rampage and hacked three children and a house help to death on Friday night.

A village in Silibwet, Bomet County, was left reeling after a horrifying incident on Friday night, where a 47-year-old man gruesomely attacked and killed three children and a house help.

The suspect, without warning, took a panga and slashed his own two children, a relative's child, and the house help, leaving them dead on the spot. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Bomet Central deputy police commander Ali Bashir said the victims included the man's two-year-old daughter, 16-year-old son, his eight-year-old niece, and a 16-year-old house help. Despite efforts to flee, the man caught up with his son and killed him. The incident occurred shortly after the man had visited his wife at her shop in Silibwet trading center.

"We received the report of the attack around 8pm. When we arrived at the scene, the suspect was nowhere to be seen," Ali said.

Upon police arrival at the scene, the bodies of the victims lay in pools of blood, each with multiple deep cuts on the head and neck. The suspect's whereabouts remain unknown, but authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend him.

"We will ensure he is arrested and charged with the crimes," he said

The community expressed shock and horror at the brutal attack, with neighbors recounting their fear upon discovering the gruesome scene. Authorities emphasized the need for peaceful conflict resolution within families and urged residents to prioritize dialogue over violence.

"Bomet has been recording many cases where people have attacked and killed others because of conflicts. We are concerned. We appeal to residents to give dialogue a chance. Any conflict can be resolved. Instead of fighting, let people talk," Ali said.

The community called for swift justice and urged authorities to expedite investigations and arrest the perpetrator.
