Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika have officially launched the Taifa Care Digitization Activation in Nakuru County, marking a milestone towards modernizing health care delivery through digital innovation.
Addressing the media at Milimani headquarters in Nakuru on July 23, 2025, Governor Susan Kihika acknowledged the activation as a progress in implementing the promises made by the current government, while emphasizing on the importance of digitalization and community participation.
“Nakuru has registered about 39% of population to SHA. We still have a long way to go. In all our health facilities we will put a registration desk to assist people,” she said.
She noted that the activation will upgrade the Nakuru Regional Cancer Centre to a major referral hub, while various hospitals in the county will be equipped with modern medical equipment’s like CT scanners, mammography units and dialysis machines.
“We receive patients from around 24 counties. As leaders, we would like to bring everyone on board to register SHA so that they can get the treatment they deserve with dignity,“ she added.

Health CS Duale reaffirmed the government's resolve to advance health reforms. He emphasized that the government is dedicated to creating an institution that is both credible and inclusive, where no public servant will be singled out and dishonesty will not be tolerated.
“The recruitment process about the SHA complies with Social Health Insurance Act 2023, which is transparency, merit, and fairness,” he said.
He emphasized the Ministry of Health's commitment to stringent pharmaceutical controls, emphasizing that only professionals and licensed pharmacies will be permitted to provide medication.
Among those who attended the launching event was Nakuru East Member of Parliament (MP) David Gikaria, Women Representative Lisa Chelule, Nakuru West MP Samwel Arama, Bahati MP Irene Njoki, and Nakuru County officials along with Nakuru Members of the County Assembly.
