Former Kajiado County Women Representative Janet Marania Teyiaa has passed on.
President William Ruto has issued a statement, mourning the late Janet. In his condolence message, the president describes Teyiaa as a passionate and distinguished public servant who diligently served her people.
The president says Teyiaa was a selfless team player who inspired many Kenyans to pursue their dreams irrespective of their backgrounds.
“Our sincere condolences go out to her family, friends, and the people of Kajiado for the loss of such a great leader. We stand with you during this period of mourning. May her soul rest in peace,” Ruto said.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also expressed his sincere condolences saying, “I have learnt the passing on of Hon. Janet Marania Teyiaa with great shock. I served with Janet in the 12th parliament when she represented the people of Kajiado County as a Women Representative," Gachagua said.

Gachagua has recalled how Teyiaa advocated for people with disabilities. “Her contribution in Kajiado County on what hails our communities speaks volumes on her resolve, especially speaking and advocating for the people living with disabilities will remain in our hearts as a people. She has left a big gap in our Nation,” Gachagua remarked.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Githunguri Constituency, Gathoni Wamuchomba, has also joined in mourning the death of Janet Marania Teyiaa.
In her remarks, Wamuchomba recalls how Janet broke the record of being the first woman to be elected with disability to serve a second term in the National Assembly.
“On behalf of my voters in Githunguri and my family, send my sincere condolences to the Family of my colleague Hon Janet Teiyaa former Women Representative Kajiado County who has rested. Hon Janet broke a record of being the first woman rep to be elected with disability to serve a second term in the National Assembly.” Wamuchomba said through a statement.
