Kenyan sensation Stevo Simple Boy has secured his first international gig in Saudi Arabia. Speaking on K24 Hangout Friday, the rapper, whose real name is Stephen Otieno Adera shared how his unique approach and confidence have opened doors he once only dreamed of.

“Mimi ni msanii wa East Africa, lakini nataka nivuke mipaka niende nchi za nje (I am an artist from East Africa, but I want to cross borders and go to foreign countries),” he expressed.

The phrase that has become synonymous with his rise, “Mefi Mefi Muskla,” holds a special significance. Translated from Arabic, it means “no worries, everything is just fine.” Stevo has been using this phrase while creating content and also during interviews.

“Niliposema mefi mefi muskila, unajua nini ilifanyika? Ni bahati kwamba naenda Saudi Arabia kwa mara ya kwanza (when I said 'mefi mefi muskla, do you know what happened? It's a luck that I'm going to Saudi Arabia for the first time." His infectious positivity has undoubtedly resonated with fans and industry insiders alike.

“One thing I'm learning from Simple Boy is that we sometimes overrate talent but undermine confidence. We need both but should be the opposite.”

“His consistency in making content creation is amazing.”

Born in 1990, Stevo has always used his platform to address social issues affecting society. He skyrocketed to fame with the hit “Mihadarati” in 2019, and his subsequent releases, including “Tuheshimu Ndoa” in 2020, solidified his status as a voice of the people.

However, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. In 2022, Stevo faced significant setbacks with his management, but he persevered, emerging stronger and more determined than ever.
