The National Police Service (NPS) has condemned the harassment of a traffic police officer based in Nakuru. This following the circulation of a viral video on social media as they reported.

In a press statement dated May 8, 2026,  the NPS stated the service's attention was drawn to the incident after a video circulated on social media.

NPS has reported that preliminary investigations have revealed the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. NPS reported that in the video clip, the male motorist is seen subjecting the female traffic officer to verbal abuse and intimidation. The press statement further confirms that the motorist is a fellow police officer.

The National Police Service condemned the behaviour depicted by the male officer, describing it as unlawful. It directly contradicts the service's core values of professionalism, discipline, respect, and integrity.

They added that the code of conduct and training of the National Police Service is built on honor, courage, and mutual respect, both towards its members and the public.

They later commended the female officer for her composure, bravery, and commitment to duty despite provocation.

The National Police Service reassures the public of its ongoing commitment to eradicating indiscipline, harassment, and misconduct within its ranks. The service encourages the public to report such incidents to the nearest police station or law enforcement officer.

Incidents involving misconduct within law enforcement continue to shape public perception of the police service, with many Kenyans calling for stronger accountability and professionalism among officers.
