• Through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services, farmers can now collect 50KG bags at a subsidized price of KSH 2,500 from “Last Mile Stores” set up in their wards and subcounties.

Nakuru County Government has unveiled designated pick‑up points for subsidized fertilizer, bringing the inputs closer to farmers across the county.

Through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services, farmers can now collect 50KG bags at a subsidized price of KSH 2,500 from “Last Mile Stores” set up in their wards and subcounties.

In Gilgil Subcounty, farmers will collect from Kiambogo Education Hall in Elementaita Ward and Karunga Farmers Association in Morendat Ward. Kuresoi North residents will access fertilizer at Kiptororo, Sachoran CDF Hall in Sirikwa, Kamara CDF Hall, and Kapeta Farmers Coop in Nyota. In Kuresoi South, the store is Keringet Social Hall.

Subukia Subcounty will serve Kabazi Ward at Kabazi Social Hall and Waseges Ward at Lari Wendani Grading Shed. In Bahati, farmers will pick up supplies at Githioro Social Hall in Dundori Ward and Karunga Bahati FC in Bahati Ward.

Molo Subcounty farmers will collect from Molo PPCK, while in Njoro, Mauka Warehouse and Njoro Cereal Promoters will serve Mauche and Njoro wards.

For Rongai Subcounty, IEBC Hall Kampi Ya Moto in Soin Ward and Rongai Social Hall in Visoi Ward have been designated. Finally, in Naivasha Subcounty, Ndabibi Store will serve Maiella Ward.

This initiative forms part of Nakuru’s broader agricultural support program, designed to ease access to fertilizer, reduce costs, and strengthen food.

Yet even as the county expands access, authorities are cracking down on abuse of the subsidy.

On March 12, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, working with the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, arrested suspects in Kuresoi South for illegally diverting government fertilizer.

At Keringet Police Station, Deputy County Commissioner Malak Namai confirmed that the business owner had been repackaging subsidized fertilizer and selling it to farmers at inflated prices.

The Ministry vowed to protect farmers from exploitation. Abdulahi Osman, representing the State Department of Agriculture, declared:

“We will not leave any stone unturned to expose any individual, fraudulent business person, who are hindering the successful implementation of the subsidy fertilizer programme. We will go round exposing individuals who are disadvantaging farmers.”
