• The county government has reiterated its commitment to rapid response and continued support for communities affected by disasters.

The public has been urged to exercise extra caution as Nakuru County experiences the hot and dry season, a period often associated with an increased risk of fire outbreaks.

"Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, adopt basic fire-prevention measures, and promptly alert relevant authorities in the event of fire incidents to allow for swift response and minimize losses," says the County Government.

Officials noted that dry weather conditions significantly heighten the likelihood of fires.

The advisory comes in the wake of recent fire incidents that left several families displaced across different parts of the county.

In response, the Directorate of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance conducted a relief distribution exercise targeting affected households in London Ward in Nakuru West Sub-County, Dundori Ward in Bahati Sub-County, and Arimi Sub-Location in Elburgon Ward.

Affected families received essential relief materials aimed at providing immediate support and cushioning them from further hardship as they begin the recovery process.

County officials emphasized that the intervention was part of ongoing efforts to support vulnerable households and strengthen community resilience in the face of disasters.

The relief exercise was overseen by area Members of County Assembly (MCAs) Gatuso Bernard (London Ward), Gathuita Mwangi (Dundori Ward), and Njuguna Mwaura (Elburgon Ward). They were joined by Principal Administrator Gitonga Kinyanjui, Ward Administrators Timothy Njoroge and Sylvester Totona, alongside other county officials.
