President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to nurturing talent from the grassroots, declaring that every gifted Kenyan deserves the opportunity to shine.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on September 3, 2025, the President has outlined his sports ambition: to elevate Kenya into the ranks of global sporting powerhouses, where athletes not only compete but triumph.

“Kenya is richly endowed with immense talent across the sporting spectrum, from soccer, volleyball, cricket, and rugby to athletics and many more. Yet, this potential has not been fully harnessed,” he said.

Recently, the President held a high-level engagement with CEOs at State House Nairobi, where he rallied the private sector to step up through leadership, investment, and collaboration to position Kenya as a true global sports powerhouse.

In late August, The Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports, Slim Mvurya hailed Kenya’s athletes as living proof of what happens when talent meets opportunity.

“Our sportsmen and women are a living testimony of the power of talent when nurtured with purpose and opportunity,” he said.

According to him, the victories and resilience of sports men and women inspire a nation, reminding the country of the potential within the young people, and affirm that when the government invests in athletes, it invests in the pride and future of Kenya.

Recently, Kenya’s Harambee Stars reached the quarter-finals of CHAN 2024, showcasing tactical maturity and continental ambition.
