• The three-day protests, which took place from Wednesday to Friday in the week starting July 16, 2023, saw protesters lose their lives, with others nursing injuries.

Following the announcement by the Azimio coalition on July 22, 2023, that protests will resume next week on Wednesday from 6 am to 6 pm, Kenyans through social media have expressed their view on the matter, saying that it's only a waste of time since businesses will not run as usual during such days.

Despite the assurance by Azimio leaders that the protests will be peaceful, some Kenyans do not see the need for picketing because, so far, since the onset of the protests, the cost of living hasn’t gone down.

On Twitter, reactions are as follows:

@CiscoM254

No, it will be a waste of time, energy, money and life. They should file petitions in court, paralyze parliament proceedings and do things legally. Bills have been passed as they watch. They have failed us. Even the finance act didn't file a petition; it's Omutata.

@bwirebethwel

For Kenyans to continue dying, big no, that's not the way. We have to strategize again.

@KeruboReen

This is a matter of wasting time in the street and earning nothing but injuries 😞.

How do you justify lowering the cost of living when the fact remains businesses cannot open for three days a week? It's only in Africa where the Opposition, rather than checking the governance of the ruling government, orchestrates its downfall. 😔 SAD.

@stevemyna1

We need a peaceful country.. pray for peace!

@iamkiplangat11

Uzuri ni niyinyi ndio mtakufa, politicians wakiwa kwao na wanao

@SophisticatedDj

Can they tell us what they have achieved so far? Hasara au faida as we speak?

@Tomas_kamau

We are just wasting time...instead of working with Bana...let him accept the results and move on bana... aaaii.
