• This plea for unity is not the first time Governor Wamatangi has spoken out against obstacles to progress in Kiambu County.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has issued a call for unity among the elected leaders of Kiambu County, emphasizing the urgency of setting aside personal differences and working together for the development and progress of the region.

In a rallying cry for a brighter future, Governor Wamatangi urged the leaders to prioritize development initiatives and rise above the distractions of infighting that have plagued the county.

Wamatangi expressed his concerns over the prevailing infighting among Kiambu's elected leaders, stressing the need to address the pressing issues that demand immediate attention.

“I say that people should stop engaging in unnecessary conflicts in Kiambu. What do we have in Kiambu? This year, let's work. Let's hold hands and say that what we want is development,” he said.

He highlighted that when leaders are divided by political rifts and engage in petty disagreements, it becomes exceedingly challenging to achieve substantial development as their energy is misdirected towards internal conflicts rather than serving the needs of the people.

Recognizing the importance of synergy and collaboration, Governor Wamatangi called upon the elected leaders to unite their efforts and work towards a shared goal - the advancement of Kiambu County.

He emphasized that unity is the key to unlocking the full potential of the county and delivering tangible results that will positively impact the lives of its residents.

The call for unity comes amid an ongoing feud between Governor Wamatangi and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa over the management of the county.

Recent conflicts have escalated further after a group of MCAs urged Ichung'wa to refrain from interfering in the administration of the local government.

While Ichung'wa has accused Wamatangi of impeding development projects in the county, the Kiambu MCAs have levelled accusations against the national assembly majority leader, holding him responsible for sowing discord among them.

This plea for unity is not the first time Governor Wamatangi has spoken out against obstacles to progress in Kiambu County.

Last year, he publicly criticized individuals who had allegedly grabbed land meant for housing projects, urging the President to assist in the fight against these land grabbers, some of whom were identified as former elected leaders in the county.

In response, Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa called on Governor Wamatangi to disclose the names of these individuals who had unlawfully acquired public property, thus hindering the progress of the housing project.
