• The suspects were arraigned for attempting to grab the 25-acre piece of land that hosts the War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has brought five suspects to court regarding an alleged imitation case involving documents for extending a lease at Nakuru War Memorial Hospital.

The suspects were arraigned for attempting to grab the 25-acre piece of land that hosts the War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru.

According to a statement by the Office of the Public Prosecution (ODPP), the allegations involve fraudulently obtaining documents for the renewal of a lease title that expired in 2021.

Among the individuals charged are two Ministry of Lands senior officials, Peter Nzuki and Stephen Kihengo, along with hospital chairman Simon Mwangi, director Roger Joslyn, and broker Kipkemboi Marindich.

”5 people, including Nakuru War Memorial Hospital directors Simon Watene and Roger Joslyn, land surveyor Kipkemboi Kigen, and Ministry of Lands officials Peter Nzuki mutwiwa and Stephen Kihengo Mwaura have been charged before a Nakuru court with 12 counts related to abuse of office, forgery and conspiracy to defraud,” the ODPP stated.

The five are set to begin trial on July 31, 2024. Additionally, there are efforts to investigate a lawyer turned-politician linked to the process.

The privately owned hospital has operated for over a hundred years.

The Nakuru county government took over the management of the hospital in October 2023, accusing the management of forging documents.
