In a press conference held in Kisii on February 24, 2026, leaders associated with the United Alternative Government (United Opposition) emphasized the need for national decency and the protection of constitutional rights.

Jubilee party Deputy Party leader Fred Matiang’i, Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua addressed the press during their ongoing tour of the region.

Matiang’i underscored the sanctity of human life, urging leaders to conduct politics with wisdom rather than confrontation.

“We cannot lose life because we are trying to help certain people survive in their political offices. We need every life. We don’t have to agree all the time, and when we do not agree, let us execute them with a measure of decency,” he said.

The leaders also turned their attention to the role of the National Police Service (NPS) in maintaining order during political gatherings. They called on officers to remain independent and resist external interference.

Gachaga praised patriotic officers and urged them to continue resisting political pressure, noting that the appeal came a day after the United Opposition was allegedly attacked by hired goons in Kisii.

Kalonzo Musyoka focused his remarks on the future of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), advocating for transparent processes in the appointment of key officials.

“There must be proper advertisement for the next CEO of the IEBC, so that all Kenyans will know if justice has been served in the recruitment process. Elections are next year,” Musyoka said.

He further emphasized the group’s commitment to the 2010 Constitution:

“Agenda item number one is the return of this country to constitutional order, the observance of the rule of law, under the Supreme Law of the land, Constitution 2010.”

The leaders concluded by stressing that their primary objective is advancing the nation through collaboration with all like‑minded individuals.

United Alternative Government is in Kisii as part of a three‑day tour of the Gusii region, aimed at consolidating support and projecting unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The tour began on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Nairobi, where they launched their nationwide rallies. They then moved into Nyamira on Monday, February 23, before heading to Kisii for engagements on Tuesday, February 24, and Wednesday, February 25.

Their activities have been marked by both political rallies and press conferences, but also by chaotic disruptions and violence allegedly orchestrated by rival camps.
