Former Chief Justice David Maraga has unveiled his political philosophy, which he says is a people-driven presidential campaign, anchored in a civic manifesto he calls “Ukatiba and Utu.”
The unveiling comes at a critical juncture in Kenya, coinciding with the inaugural celebration of Katiba Day, marking 15 years since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution, a document Maraga has consistently defended as Kenya’s moral compass.
Maraga’s political philosophy is rooted in integrity-based governance, with a clear call for full fidelity to the Constitution.
According to him, the Constitution is a living covenant, an oath Kenyans have forged with one another and one that must now be honored.
“I am calling the country back to order,” Maraga declared. “We must stop the bleeding of wealth and economic opportunity, especially for young people. We must apply the creative and innovative spirit of Kenya’s youth to build new models for generating wealth.”

He has rejected the notion that Kenya is broke, stating instead:
“Kenya is bleeding from mismanagement. We will slash waste in bloated ministries and fake programs, and redirect that money to schools, hospitals, water, agriculture, and jobs.”
Maraga insists that every coin must serve the Mwananchi, not the politician who already draws a salary.
“To have a country where the super wealthy live right next to a majority in desperate poverty is an indictment against our sense of moral justice.”
