President William Ruto has said that the main reason for the construction of affordable houses is to create employment.
During a thanksgiving service in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County on June 18, 2023, the president emphasized on how the Housing Plan in the Finance Bill was meant to revive the economy in form of job creation.
According to his speech, President Ruto is planning on building 10,000 affordable houses in Kakamega County, which is part of the 200,000 houses to be built annually.
“Watu wananiuliza mbona unataka kujenga nyumba…tuko na sababu ya kujenga manyumba Kenya. Ile programme yetu ya Housing, kiini yake kubwa sio nyumba; ni ajira. The 10,000 houses to be built in the County will require about 40,000 to 50,000 youths.
