In an interview on the ‘Fixing the Nation’ show on NTV, former Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Justin Muturi has critiqued President William Ruto, declaring him unfit for the presidency of Kenya. Speaking on April 4, 2025, Muturi has labeled the President as "irredeemably corrupt," asserting that programs launched by Ruto is merely a façade for financial gain.

Defending his own record, Muturi has dismissed allegations that he had neglected his responsibilities while in office. "I did not abscond duty as President Ruto implies," he stated firmly.

Muturi has revealed that Ruto had approached him to join his campaign in 2022, emphasizing that it was a decision based on shared values and trust rather than personal ambition. “Let it be clear, I didn’t seek out President Ruto in 2022. He came to me and asked me to join his campaign,” he explained.

In a reflection on Ruto's character, Muturi has described him as having ‘two personalities.’ He has expressed concern that the public persona Ruto presents is vastly different from the private individual who orchestrates government affairs. "That kind of person is quite a dangerous character," he warned.

Muturi has expressed disappointment at Ruto's public declarations against corruption, questioning the sincerity behind such statements. "When I watch William Ruto sometimes talking to the members of the Cabinet and say, ‘I do not want to see corruption in my government,’ I start wondering, who is this talking?” he lamented.

His remarks have sparked significant backlash on social media. Critics quickly pointed out the irony of Muturi's claims, given his previous association with Ruto's administration. Comments range from skepticism about his motives to calls for accountability among leaders:

-@f1liveke:"And if you joined him in 2022, you are the same ship. Don't jump it, fix it."

-@1Mutuku: "You are a real man. Daring him to fire you shows confidence and integrity."

-@JkKitheka: "How does this help us fix the nation?"

Muturi also recounted the trauma he faced after his son was abducted, which led him to reconsider his position in government. "I went through a lot of soul searching... many advised me to stay put, since there might have been a lot more I would be able to gather about what the administration is doing," he explained.

Yet, critics like @okinyitj have questioned the timing of his revelations: "But he just realizes 'Ruto is unfit' after he's been sacked." Others, like @Kaikainaipaa, have expressed disbelief at his sudden change of heart after serving in Ruto's cabinet for two and a half years:” When did he became unfit, after firing you and now you ain't getting the money and other privileges...”

Despite the controversy, some supporters argue that Muturi’s insights are valuable, given his experience in high-level positions. @R_Milan10 stated, "We need to listen to such people if they advise us. This is someone who has held top positions in this country and so he knows what he is talking about."
