- Nakuru MCAs have criticized Senator Keroche for failing to attend county assembly sessions for over two years, accusing her of neglecting duty.
A section of Nakuru County Assembly Members (MCAs) has openly criticized Senator Tabitha Keroche Karanja for allegedly failing to attend County Assembly sessions as required by law of the Assembly. The ward representatives claim that for the past two and a half years, the Senator has never made an appearance in the assembly to address county affairs.
Speaking during their first sitting after a short recess, the MCAs expressed their frustration over what they termed as neglect of duty by the senator. They argued that her absence has denied the county an opportunity to engage in constructive discussions regarding pressing issues affecting residents.
"For over two years, we have not seen our senator here. It is her responsibility to engage with county leadership, yet he is nowhere to be seen. Instead, she chooses to make divisive remarks outside the assembly," said William Mutai, the leader of the majority.
The leaders also condemned remarks made by the Senator regarding Governor Susan Kihika’s maternity leave. They dismissed her comments as divisive and unnecessary, insisting that county operations have been running smoothly under the leadership of Deputy Governor David Kones.
"The senator should respect county leadership and stop making remarks that do not contribute to development. If she has concerns, she should bring them to the assembly instead of fueling unnecessary conflicts in public," added Mutai.

Meanwhile, the county assembly has resumed its operations, with budget consultations for the 2025-2026 financial year currently underway. Public participation forums have been scheduled across the county to collect views from residents on budget allocations and priority areas.
The MCAs have urged Senator Keroche to fulfill her mandate and engage with the county government for the betterment of Nakuru residents.
