Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out clear that the Members of Parliament within the Kenya Kwanza Government who voted against the Finance Bill will face disciplinary action.

On June 14, 2023, a vote was taken in parliament on the Finance Bill. Out of the 257 Members who were present in the House, 176 voted for the Finance Bill while 81 MPs voted against the Bill.

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who was elected on a UDA ticket, voted against the Bill while Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris, an Azimio La Umoja legislative voted in favor of it.

Cherargei, who has been vocal on the Finance Bill, had earlier on stated that party position is supreme in democracy and that any UDA party member who voted against the Finance Bill was to face disciplinary action.

“Any Kenya Kwanza MP who shall vote against the Finance Bill 2023 should face the full force of party disciplinary mechanisms," he had earlier said.

Now that there was evidence of MPs in the Kenya Kwanza government who voted against the Bill, the Nandi Senator admits that there will be punishment for them.

"The few elements within Kenya Kwanza who opposed the Bill shall face disciplinary action, " Cherargei said.
