Moraa who is a corporal now a “dance queen” as she is being referred to after a dance she did after the win, is a total orphan having lost her dad in 1991 and her mother in 1999.
She hails from Obwari village, Nyakumbati sub-location in Ichuni ward, Kisii County.
Kenya’s representation on the global stage saw the country being ranked at the first position in the African Continent with it being ranked fifth globally.
Every athlete who represented the country made a very remarkable performance in the tough competition and still brought victory to the nation, such great talents.
This good news was received well by the president himself, President William Ruto who commended the athletes for a job well done.
“Exceptional, outstanding, and vibrant performance by our female athletes in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest for making Kenya number 1 in Africa and 5th overall. We do not take your passion, hard work, and sacrifice for granted. Good contribution Beatrice Chepkoech and Faith Cherotich for bagging Silver and Bronze in the Women's 3000m steeplechase on the final day. Congratulations to Team Kenya for making us proud. We have the zeal, hunger, and potential to do better with proper tactics and guidance from our technicians.”
