KUTTRH Leadership Shifts: President Ruto Accepts Chairperson’s Resignation

In a shift in leadership at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital (KUTTRH), President William Ruto has accepted the immediate resignation of Professor Olive Mugenda from her role as Chairperson of the hospital's board.

Through a statement shared by State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the President has expressed his appreciation for Professor Mugenda’s considerable contributions to the institution during her tenure. This decision is part of a broader strategy to restore stability and enhance governance at KUTTRH. Consequently, the entire KUTTRH Board has been disbanded, and the process to reconstitute it is now underway.

In addition to the board's dissolution, several key changes have been made within the hospital's administration following directives from the Cabinet Secretary for Health. Mr. Ahmed Dagane, the current CEO, has been directed to take indefinite leave as the hospital seeks new leadership.

Dr. Zainab Gura has been appointed as the acting CEO of KUTTRH, bringing a fresh perspective to the hospital's operations. Meanwhile, Mr. Isaac Kamau, who was recently appointed as the acting CEO by the disbanded board, has been relieved of his duties and instructed to report to the Ministry of Health Headquarters.
