UNESCO Forum on Higher Education in Africa to be Held In Nairobi

The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) conference on higher education will be held from December 10 to December 11, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya. According to a circular released by the Ministry of Education on X, the conference examines the Higher Education Policies and frameworks needed to support research, innovation, employment opportunities and entrepreneurship. It also aims to develop initiatives that help achieve the highlighted objectives.

Additionally, the conference will organise annual meetings for the China–In–Fund- trust III project and encourage dialogue.

The forum is a follow-up to the World Higher Education Conference (WHE2022) in Barcelona, Spain, in 2022. The conference established the Higher Education Roadmap to take higher education to 2030 and beyond. The road map provides references and guidelines for implementation in the African higher education sector.

The forum also provides an opportunity for the 10th anniversary of the Revised Convention on the Recognition of Studies, certificates, diplomas, degrees and other academic qualifications in higher education in the African states.

In conclusion, the circular outlined the participants as the Ministry of Education, higher education stakeholders, and private sector agencies, among others.
