• Easier identification of the engineers working on a particular project will make it easier for accountability.

President Ruto has announced that there will be a portal to identify the engineers undertaking projects, both in the government as well as those in the private sector. This will enable ethical compliance in the profession.

“It should no longer be possible for projects to employ unqualified people or to proceed without employing an engineer,” said Ruto.

The president was speaking during the Engineering Partnership Convention 2023 that took place in Naivasha, Nakuru County on June 14, 2023 where he commissioned the fourth cohort of the Graduate Engineers Internship Programme.

Ruto has called on the Board of Engineers to ensure that their team of engineers are qualified for the job. “The engineers board should flag out those who are not living up to the qualifications,” said President Ruto.

According to the president, the easier identification of the engineers working on a particular project will make it easier for accountability.

“There will be a portal to know who is an engineer and who is not. This will enable us to hold the professionals accountable."

The President has also applauded The Engineers Board of Kenya for holding the event for the fourth year, saying it is impressive and assured them of the government support.
He has encouraged engineers to continue to innovating and working with others.
