KLS promotes legal expertise under the harmony of six departments: the Department of Commercial Law, the Department of Public Law, the Centre for Legal Aid and Clinical Legal Aids Education, and the Centre for African Governance, Leadership and Ethics.

Kabarak Law School’s reputation has caught the attention of prominent institutions such as the National Steering Committee on Implementation of Alternative Justice Systems Policy (NaSCI-AJS) of the Judiciary of Kenya. In March 2024, the NaSCI-AJS visited Kabarak University to explore potential collaboration, recognizing the university’s School of Law as a “potential knowledge partner” for research and dissemination of knowledge on alternative justice systems.

From June 4 to 7, 2024, Kabarak University hosted the 3rd Alternative Justice System (AJS) conference, where the launch of the first autonomous Alternative Justice System centre in Africa took place.

 “KLS is reputable in Kenya and is increasingly becoming a preferred research destination for scholars from Europe, America, Australia and Asia. It is also a preferred study destination for students in Kenya and East Africa-it has a rich curriculum in law with a niche on good governance,” he said.

Kabarak’s excellence in legal education is born of its success in ensuring coherence between the academia, practice, Government, non-government and International spheres.

Kabarak embraces students' exposure through annual law fairs, where students are able to meet with representatives from law firms and the extensive public and private sector proprietors. The University has further secured close contracts with renowned legal professionals and its efficacious alumni worldwide.

Awards and Kabarak University are part and parcel; as early May, KLS garnered championships at the InterNational Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR) All Africa Mediation Tournament.

Judiciary committee on alternative justice systems visits Kabarak University to plan collaboration

In the tournament that was held between 16th to 18th May 2024, the Kabarak University flag was held high by law students. These students showcased their exceptional negotiation skills, claiming the first place in the Top Advocate/Client category. They also secured the second place in the Top Mediator category.

Following the KLS’s requirement for two intakes each academic year (May and Sep), Kabarak University has welcomed persons passionate about justice, human rights, and corporate law to apply for the September 2024 intake.

To qualify for The Bachelors of Law programme, one ought to have KCSE C+ mean grade with B plain in English or Kiswahili.
