On February 4, 2026, Cameras Africa, one of East Africa’s leading photography and videography equipment and training organizations, conducted a hands-on media training session at Kabarak University.
The practical workshop joined the Creatives Campus Experience tour that’s currently moving through several higher learning institutions in the region.
Organized in partnership with the School of Music and Media at Kabarak University, the session brought professional insights and equipment demonstrations directly to Mass Communication and Film & Theatre students.
Young media students were able to practice with industry-standard cameras and learn techniques that are highly relevant to modern storytelling, visual journalism, and film production.
The Creatives Campus Experience a multi day tour by Cameras Africa is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real world media practice.
It’s part of a broader initiative to equip the next generation of visual communicators with the skills and confidence needed to excel in Kenya’s growing creative industries.
The tour also includes stops at Baraton University and Moi University with similar workshops planned.
Students who participated highlighted the value of learning directly from professionals, noting that the practical tips and hands on time with cameras and lighting gear will enhance their coursework and future careers.
The event also provided opportunities for networking and mentorship with industry practitioners.
For Kabarak University, hosting the Cameras Africa workshop signals the institution’s commitment to offering not just theoretical media education but also experiential, industry standard training that prepares students for careers in photography, video production, and broadcast.
