Residents of Nakuru County are turning up in numbers to take part in the ongoing public hearings for the Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) 2026. The meetings, which run from January 26 to January 30, 2026, give citizens, community groups, and stakeholders a direct voice in deciding how county resources will be spent over the next three years.

The forums have opened space for people to share their views, priorities, and development plans. County officials say the feedback will strengthen evidence‑based planning and ensure the next budget reflects citizen needs.

County Director of Cooperatives Josephine Ngandu told participants that her department has recorded strong growth in cooperative activities and investments. "She noted that under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, the department has continued to register positive economic growth, improved cooperative performance, and increased investments across sectors through joint collaborations and strategic public–private partnerships," says the County Government.

According to the County Government, the Director of Tourism Erick Muriuki highlighted initiatives aimed at making Nakuru a competitive tourist destination. He pointed to partnerships with private sector players, hospitality businesses, and community tourism groups. These efforts focus on product development, destination marketing, and cultural tourism promotion. According to Muriuki, the projects are creating jobs and supporting local enterprises, especially in hospitality and cultural industries.

County officials emphasized that public participation remains a key pillar of Nakuru’s planning and budgeting process. They assured residents that the views collected during the hearings will inform the final CFSP document and align spending with citizen priorities and long‑term development goals.

The continuous holding of public hearings, they added, underlines the county government’s commitment to transparency, participatory governance, and citizen‑driven development.

The CFSP is Nakuru’s main budget policy document. Prepared annually, it sets out fiscal priorities, spending plans, and development goals in line with national frameworks. In practical terms, it guides how money will be spent on services such as health, education, roads, agriculture, and infrastructure.
