The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a warning to the public against engaging with fake social media accounts that are fraudulently posing as official NPS platforms.

In a statement on X on December 2, 2025, the Service has noted that these pseudo accounts are deliberately designed to mislead, defraud, and misinform unsuspecting citizens. It has urged members of the public not to reply, follow, share information, or send money and personal details to such accounts.

“It has come to our attention that numerous fake or pseudo social media accounts are purporting to represent the National Police Service (NPS). These fraudulent accounts are designed to mislead, defraud, or misinform the public,” says the NPS in a statement.

To safeguard against deception, NPS emphasized that its only verified and official accounts are Facebook: @NationalPoliceKE, Twitter/X: @NPSOfficial_KE, and TikTok: @NationalPoliceKE.

The Service has further advised Kenyans to always look out for the official verification badge, the blue tick—on its Facebook and X accounts before engaging, and to treat any communication or solicitation from unverified accounts as suspicious.

Citizens are encouraged to report fake accounts directly to the respective platforms and to NPS through toll-free hotlines 999, 911, or 112.

“Any communication or solicitation from unverified accounts should be treated as suspicious,” NPS has added.
