• Reflecting on the past year, it’s clear that it has been a rollercoaster ride. From the Gen Z protests to rising taxes, and even the devastating floods, the year has been filled with struggles.

It’s Christmas once again—a time when Christians around the globe celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. You can feel the spirit in the air, as joy and festivity bring smiles to many faces. However, as we approach the end of the year, this Christmas carries a different weight, especially in Kenya.

The mood this year is tinged with the harsh realities of a struggling economy. Many are still working on December 25th, striving to make ends meet and ensure their families can enjoy the holiday. Breadwinners are pushing themselves to the limit, hoping to send something home to brighten the celebrations. This is a poignant reminder of the challenges that have marked 2024.

Reflecting on the past year, it’s clear that it has been a rollercoaster ride. From the Gen Z protests to rising taxes, and even the devastating floods, the year has been filled with struggles. Yet, amidst this turmoil, the last week of December, spanning from the 25th to the 31st, offers a glimmer of hope. It’s a time to acknowledge the resilience that has carried us through and to celebrate the joys, however small, that we’ve experienced.

Many have faced loss this year, mourning loved ones who didn’t make it to the end. As we gather to celebrate Christmas, let’s take a moment to appreciate the gift of life itself. If you’ve made it to this day, then it’s a Merry Christmas to you. Let’s cherish our moments, honor our struggles, and look forward with hope as we step into 2025.

See you next time!
