Faith Odhiambo, president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), has expressed concern over the abduction of Hon. Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, the Member of County Assembly for Wajir’s Dela Ward. The news of Mr. Ahmed’s disappearance emerged from alarmed family members who reported the incident.
According to the family, Mr. Ahmed was abducted by unknown assailants on the evening of Friday, September 13, 2024, around 8:00 PM, while traveling along Enterprise Road in Nairobi. A heavily armed group in two unmarked Land Cruiser Prados intercepted his taxi, forcibly removing him from the vehicle before driving him away to an unknown location. Since the abduction, his whereabouts have remained unknown, and his family, friends, and colleagues have been unable to contact him.
The assailants not only took Mr. Ahmed but also confiscated the taxi driver’s phone, brandishing firearms to intimidate him. The incident was reported to the Industrial Area Police Station, from which the family learned of the abduction.
They have since lodged a formal report with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Makadara Police Station, registered under OB 86/13/09/2024. However, the family continues to face an agonizing uncertainty, as no information regarding Mr. Ahmed’s whereabouts has been provided.
In light of recent events in the country, the family is increasingly apprehensive about potential foul play surrounding Mr. Ahmed’s disappearance.
