- The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will on Friday July 28, 2023 hold interdenominational prayers across the country for Kenyans who lost their lives during anti-government protests.
The planned protests scheduled for Wednesday till Friday that has been going on for the past two week was suddenly brought to a standstill on Tuesday 25, 2023 as the Azimio leader Raila Odinga called it off to allow time to mourn victims of the protests who lost their lives .
This was according to a post on his Official Twitter Account;
“To the families that have lost their loved ones, we condole with them and pray for those injured and in hospitals. That is why we called off tomorrow’s demonstrations, to mourn”
The leaders claim that the aftermath of the protests was a big blow to the country and Kenyans at large since the victims who survived police brutality were on the rise leading to close to 30 death cases across the country.
Kenyans came out to protest against the high cost of living that has left numerous households crying of hunger and increased cost of household goods leaving minimal chances of survival.

In a statement released on Thursday July 20, 2023 last week, Amnesty International Kenya said police had killed 30 people since cost-of-living protests began in March. The Media Council of Kenya has criticized the police for posing as journalists to arrest protesters.
Raila further came out to protest and condemn police brutality and uncouth behaviours during the protests
“If the aim of the police is to break up protests, then what is the justification for police to pull people out of their homes and shoot or clobber and kill them as is happening in parts of the country particularly in Kisumu and the slums of Nairobi?”
Yesterday Wednesday July 26, 2023 Raila was seen visiting hospitals and morgues and where he established that police and hired gangs have shot and killed or wounded scores of people at close range.
Some had been shot from the back as they fled or in a position of surrender.
The stated shots have been aimed at the vital organs and delicate parts of the victims like the stomach, the spine, the heart, the chest and the head.
All the victims have been unarmed in the event of the shooting.
Hundreds of residents in Kisumu , Siaya, Kisii and Homabay, Mombasa came out to hold solidarity marches, lighting candles and laying flowers in favour of the vigils.
