• Nyambaria High School, located in Kisii County, emerged as the top-performing school in the 2023 KCSE exams, scoring an average of 11.31 points. 

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has officially released the results of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams for the year 2023.

Students who sat for the exams can now check their results online by visiting the KNEC Results Checker website at http://results.knec.ac.ke. The release of the results was officiated by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, at Moi Girls High School in Eldoret.

Of the 903,260 students who registered for the KCSE exams, 899,453 candidates sat for the examinations. Over 200,000 students are eligible to join universities nationwide based on their performance.

The male candidates accounted for 50.09% of the total, while the female candidates represented 49.91%.

Male candidates performed better in ten subjects, including Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry. On the other hand, female candidates excelled in five subjects, including English and Kiswahili.

A total of 1216 candidates achieved a mean grade of A, marking an increase compared to the 1146 students in 2022 who attained the same grade. Furthermore, 201,133 students achieved a grade above C+.

However, 48,174 students scored a mean grade of E, indicating areas for improvement. The examinations also recorded 4,113 cases of exam irregularities during the testing period.
