• Through the Housing Fund, there will be availability of jobs through the construction of houses.

Kenyans have reacted over the news that there is no job for fresh graduates.

The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on June 23, 2023, during the 40th graduation ceremony of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology said that the government does not have jobs for graduates.  However, he said that through the Housing Fund, there will be availability of jobs through the construction of houses.

โ€œI donโ€™t want to sit here and lie that we have jobs for you. These jobs we are going to create together with you. Our MPs worked very gracefully for two nights and passed the Finance Bill to create a Housing Fund that will be used to construct houses every year. Among those houses, you will have an opportunity to earn a living," said Gachagua.

Kenyans have expressed devastation on twitter:

This is why school is a waste of time and resources. Youths should be taught how finance works and how to be their own boss. If you are in school try diversify yourself. Donโ€™t just glue your mind on books alone. Learn high income skills.

Imagine being told that to your face on your graduation day. Ati kuwa tayari kufanya mjengo na wewe unesomea human resource.

Graduate kama umetafuta trolley ya smokie. Fucked up nation.

@MZawedde

Wait!!! What did I just read!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ณHold up! ๐Ÿ–๏ธ. We are sacrificing as parents for our kids to get degrees/diplomas, only for them to graduate & get jobs kwa mjengo for a bit if they are lucky to get a slot in your prestigious project?

W@PapiiKennyy7

Telling University graduates that their job will be "kazi ya mjengo" is absolutely mad. What happened to Mtukufu lies when he said "In my first 1 year I will create 4 million jobs"? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ow! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Very very nice. Brilliant thinking!

@pointer254

Now that thereโ€™s no job for them next step.

"Soda maji njugu biscuits karibu customerโ€ Kenya where did we go wrong.

@Mwendi254

Inviting A deputy president to a graduation ceremony only to tell those graduating in different courses that there is no HOPE at ALL after Years, Energy & Resources Spent there is crazy. And all he can promise is some MJENGO work. I don't know how parents & those graduating feel.
