Nakuru County has cemented its place as a national leader in digital healthcare transformation, ranking second countrywide in the rollout and utilization of the TaifaCare digital health system.
According to the County Government of Nakuru, this milestone comes after the successful deployment of the TaifaCare Health Management System across 208 public health facilities, a decisive step in streamlining service delivery.

Director of Medical Services Daniel Wainaina, working with the County Digitalization Team and the Digital Health Agency, spearheaded the exercise. To drive the transition, the county distributed more than 1,000 tablets to health facilities, enabling real‑time capture of patient information at the point of care.

“Patient registration is faster, medical records are instantly retrievable, and continuity of care has significantly improved,” the County Government reported.
Financial accountability has also strengthened. Real‑time submission and monitoring of claims to the Social Health Authority have accelerated reimbursement processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

With over 24 million registered users, it covers outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and chronic disease services—cutting down the out‑of‑pocket expenses that have long burdened households.
The program promotes equity by narrowing gaps in service delivery, particularly for vulnerable and underserved populations, while advancing Kenya’s vision of Universal Health Coverage.
“This achievement reflects Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to modernizing healthcare systems and advancing Universal Health Coverage through innovation, efficiency, and transparent service delivery,” the County Government emphasized.
With TaifaCare firmly embedded in its facilities, Nakuru continues to demonstrate how technology‑driven solutions can transform healthcare access and outcomes at the county level.
