The release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results on Friday, January 9, 2026, has flung open new doors of opportunity for thousands of candidates.

With 933,226 students having sat the exams, according to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr David Njengere, the race now shifts to placements in higher learning institutions. And in this unfolding chapter, Nakuru stands poised, ready to absorb the fresh wave of scholars and to help them shape their academic futures.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba announced an upswing in fortunes, revealing that more students clinched the direct entry mark of C+ and above this year, an improvement that outpaces last year’s tally.

“The number of candidates with direct entry qualification of mean grade C+ and above was 270,715 (27.18% of the total number of students) in the 2025 KCSE examination. This is an improvement compared to 246,391 (25.53%) in 2024,” he stated.

Following this upsurge, several institutions in Nakuru are equipped to offer diverse expertise and effectively absorb these students at the university and tertiary levels.
Some of the universities in Nakuru include:

Kabarak University, founded in 2002 by former President Daniel arap Moi, has grown into one of Nakuru’s flagship higher education institutions. Located along the Nakuru-Kabarak highway, it offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, blending academic rigour with Christian values.
