The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a strict application deadline for reflective number plates. All ministries, departments, and agencies of the National and County Governments must complete their applications by Friday, August 29, 2025.

This directive, issued in an official public notice, aligns with NTSA's mandate under the NTSA Act of 2012, which empowers the agency to oversee the licensing, registration, and inspection of motor vehicles and motorcycles across the nation.

To facilitate the application process, government entities are required to use their eCitizen accounts to access the NTSA Service Portal at serviceportal.ntsa.go.ke.

Officers must log in to the eCitizen platform, navigate to their organizational accounts, and select the appropriate vehicle for which they are applying.

Applicants will need to specify the type of license plate, choose a counter collection office, and attach all necessary documents in a single PDF file. After completing the application, users can submit it after a preview and declaration. Once the reflective plates are ready, applicants will receive an SMS notification.

Priced at Ksh. 3,050, the processing time for the plates is approximately seven working days. To streamline bulk payments, NTSA has introduced an e-Agent account feature on the eCitizen platform.

Agencies wishing to utilize this feature must submit an official letter to the NTSA Director General, including the designated agent’s contact information, the agency’s official phone number, an email address, and the current K.R.A PIN.

Additionally, a colored passport photo of the agent must accompany the application, with soft copies sent to the NTSA Service Portal.

To support government agencies through this transition, NTSA has established help desks at its headquarters, regional offices, and Huduma Centers. The Authority urges all entities to act promptly to avoid a last-minute rush as the August 2025 deadline approaches.
