On January 10, 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury, Hon. CPA John Mbadi joined the Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the Ease of Doing Business in Kenya, convened by the Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia W. Mudavadi at the Prime Cabinet Secretary's (PCS) office. The main key figures from each sector were put together to address the efforts underway by the government to enhance the business environment in Kenya.
"CS Mbadi reaffirmed the government’s recognition of the critical role the private sector plays in driving Kenya’s economic growth through revenue contribution and job creation," the Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning posted on X.
According to the Ministry, CS Mbadi identified large and significant private contributions to national revenue and creation of jobs as key importance for the country in pursuit of achieving its economic aspirations.
"He highlighted that under the Kenya Kwanza Administration's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), measures are being implemented to create favourable conditions for the growth and sustainability of private enterprises," the Ministry added.
The Ministry says the CS called for the government and private sector to start pulling in the same direction to open up new avenues of growth, reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in sectors such as tourism, construction, education, and energy.
The meeting was attended by a conglomerate of important persons: from CS for the Environment, Hon. Aden Duale; CS Mining, Hon. Ali Hassan Joho; and CS Trade, Hon. Salim Mvurya, the Attorney General, Ms Dorcas Odour; among other envoys including the Principal Secretary Planning, Mr. James Muhati. Also present were representatives of key industry bodies such as KEPSA, KMA, KNCCI, the Kenya Flower Council, and the Kenya Leather Development Council, among others, all in a joint call to ease the way of doing business in the country.
The meeting marked a vital step toward stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors that unlock growth opportunities and drive sustainable economic growth in Kenya.
