Kenya launched the Mama Pima, an oil dispenser meant for hustlers in the country, led by CS Moses Kuria yesterday, Monday, August 21, 2023.

Speaking on his Official X, formerly Twitter Account, Kuria stated that people can now buy cooking oil at very affordable rates, from as low as 10 shillings, to cook for a day with the oil dispensers.

He further stated that Kenya imports edible oils to a tune of more than 100 Billion per year, which must stop.

"Together with Governors from counties that can grow oil, we have embarked on empowering farmers to plant palm oil," he said.

The launch was not received well by Kenyans, who termed it increasing and sponsoring poverty instead of reducing the price of oil to an affordable one everyone can buy.

The CS later stated that he has also instructed the Kenya National trading corporation to ensure all the dispensing machines and containers are manufactured locally by our jua kali artisans. This statement was criticized by one X user who disagreed:

I disagree here. If something needs to be controlled, it's the accuracy of the measuring machine. The manufacturers may sponsor the manufacturing of fake machines that exploit the consumers. It's a failed project once the consumer loses faith in the machines.
