• @jamnachili To boost our economy, fuel prices need to come down further. The recent cut to 180 KSh is just the beginning. We challenge our representatives’ work towards 100 KSh per liter. It is ambitious but necessary.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a significant decrease in the prices of petroleum products. The latest review for the October-November period reveals new prices for diesel, super petrol, and kerosene.

In Nairobi, the price of super petrol has dropped to Ksh 180.66, down from Ksh 188.84 in September. Diesel now retails at Ksh 168.06, a reduction from Ksh 171.60, while kerosene, previously priced at Ksh 158.32, now sells for Ksh 151.39.

In Mombasa, the prices for petroleum products are similarly lower, with super petrol priced at Ksh 177.42, diesel at Ksh 164.82, and kerosene at Ksh 148.45.

“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” EPRA stated in a release on October 14, 2024.

Reactions among Kenyans to the drop in prices have varied significantly:

Good one.., biggest drop in a long time.

Wacha baba aitwe baba. Opiyo Wandayi is barely 4 months into office and is already doing wonders. Raila's men will make Kenya the Singapore or Africa.

The drop is long overdue though.
