- "I felt that the only way to challenge minds out there and promote new ideas in that department is through having a platform that speaks about that niche," he explains.
The digital landscape has revolutionized content creation, empowering individuals to pursue their passions and share their unique perspectives without the traditional constraints of employment.
In this era where anyone can be a content creator, standing out requires a unique voice and a commitment to excellence. Ezra Ondara, a content creator from Nakuru County, Kenya, has embraced this opportunity, using his YouTube channel, Ezra Ondara TV, to tell the stories of his community.
Ondara's success demonstrates that journalism is no longer limited to traditional media outlets. Through his real-time reporting and engaging content, he provides a valuable service in an era where thousands of journalism graduates face fierce competition for limited positions in established media houses.
Ondara's primary focus is Real Estate content. Speaking during a recent episode of the TalkChat Podcast, the content creator says he chose this niche because he recognized the need for a dedicated voice for Nakuru in the Real Estate sector.

"I felt that the only way to challenge minds out there and promote new ideas in that department is through having a platform that speaks about that niche," he explains.
His exploration of real estate led him to recognize a broader need for content creation within Nakuru. This realization inspired him to create 'Nakuru Beyond the City,' a series that showcases the hidden gems and untold stories of Nakuru County.
"As a result of this, people could now ask me for other amenities in the places I visit. I felt why not go out of the way to showcase how things look like in Nakuru,” he said.
As a pioneer of content creation in Nakuru, Ondara has become a mentor to other aspiring creators. "After I started doing business in Nakuru, I have seen other content creators emerge. I have also seen many businesses embracing the social media space," he notes. His influence extends beyond individual creators, as his content has gone viral and been featured in mainstream media outlets.
Beyond his storytelling, Ezra Ondara TV actively promotes businesses in Nakuru. Ondara has observed that business owners in Nakuru are often slower to adopt online marketing strategies compared to their counterparts in cities like Nairobi. He believes in the power of marketing and uses his platform to connect local businesses with a wider audience.
His YouTube channel and social media platforms are a central hub for promoting businesses and expanding their online reach. Ondara understands that viewers may be drawn to his content for entertainment or as potential customers.
"When it comes to differentiate whether my audience view my content as entertainment or whether they are just clients, it only reflects on the ground whether it is through calling, which has already happened. People have come from that platform. I have sold homes through that platform," he added.
Ondara's creative process is boundless, drawing inspiration from his experiences both within and beyond Nakuru. "There is no limit to how I create this content. Sometimes when I go out of Nakuru, I ensure I do content from wherever I am."
Ondara advocates for the establishment of a content creation school in the country. He observes that many young people are entering the field without formal journalism training, relying instead on skills learned on the job. "If you back that street skill with academia, most people are going to be on another different level."
He emphasizes on the vastness of the content creation landscape but cautions against chasing trends. He advises aspiring creators to identify their niche and find a way to monetize it. "Then after that find something you can back it up with in order to monetize it." He also suggests identifying areas where there are gaps in content coverage.
Despite his success, Ondara acknowledges the challenges inherent in content creation. "For my case, some people may fail to understand the nature of my work. I may go to a particular apartment and try advertising it, but may be barred from accessing." He also points to a lack of capital as a common obstacle for content creators.
