- The Member of Parliament for Mbeere North Geoffrey Ruku has been nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes.
The recently shuffled Cabinet Secretaries have shared their reflections on their new roles following significant changes instituted by President William Ruto. On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the President reshuffled the senior ranks of the executive within the Cabinet, leading to notable appointments.
Aden Duale, who has been serving as the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Health. In a reciprocal move, Deborah Barasa, who has held the Health portfolio, has taken over the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.
Expressing his gratitude, Aden Duale has thanked President Ruto for the trust placed in him. “I am deeply grateful to H.E. President William Ruto for his confidence in appointing me to lead the Ministry of Health. It has been an honor serving at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, where we advanced key environmental and climate action policies,” he remarked.
Duale has emphasized his commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to drive government policies that enhance healthcare delivery, ensuring accessible and quality services for all Kenyans.
“A key priority will be advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to guarantee equitable healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations. Health is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and I look forward to fostering interministerial collaboration to enhance service delivery and improve lives across the nation,” he stated.

In addition to Duale’s appointment, Ms. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo has been nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts, and Heritage.
Following her nomination, she has thanked President William Ruto saying,” Thank you His Excellency, President William Ruto for believing and nominating me as CS Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts & Heritage,” she said.
Similarly, the Member of Parliament for Mbeere North Geoffrey Ruku has been nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes.
He has also expressed his appreciation to the President saying, “Thank you His Excellency President William Ruto for your trust and nominating me as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes. I will be honoured to serve the people of Kenya diligently and judiciously in the capacity appointed,” he said.
The nominees, if approved by parliament will join the ranks of the nation’s apex policy organ as Cabinet Secretaries.
