Prominent figures, including President William Ruto, have paid tribute to Munro's legacy. In a heartfelt statement on X, President Ruto noted, “Bob Munro was a pillar of our sports and a firm believer in youth development. His drive to make football thrive in Kenya was extraordinary; Bob expertly spotted and nurtured talents, and brought sanity in the game. Our thoughts are with the family and the sports fraternity at this dark moment. Rest in Peace, Bob.”

Mathare Football Club has also expressed its sorrow, sharing a message of condolence on behalf of Ingrid Munro: “Mathare United is deeply saddened to share the following on behalf of Ingrid Munro: Rest in Power Bob! We were privileged to create lasting memories together with you for majority of the 82 years you lived. Your legacy will live on here at Mathare United!”

Munro's impact extended beyond football; he was instrumental in uniting youth through the establishment of the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) in 1987. This initiative aimed to forge strong connections between sports, young people, and community development. MYSA has since evolved into a significant force, empowering youth living in slums and challenging environments across the globe.

Today, MYSA operates in over twenty countries, including Kenya, Botswana, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Uganda, positively impacting the lives of more than 200,000 young people. The association's commitment to youth development was highlighted in 2023 when MYSA's U16 team clinched a bronze medal at one of the largest youth football tournaments in Oslo, Norway.
