The William Ruto led team in the 2022 elections, Kenya Kwanza had a lot of foot soldiers but among the outstanding was young Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro. During a meeting in then Deputy President's residence in Karen, Nairobi, Ndindi Nyoro had made it to the short list for the running mate nominee among veteran politicians such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, DP Kindiki Kithure and CS Alice Wahome.

Additionally, after Kenya Kwanza winning the 2022 general elections it was to the expectations of his supporters that he (Nyoro) would be nominated as a Cabinet Secretary in Ruto’s government. Despite him not being nominated, his eloquence and boldness on national issues didn't stop.

His appointment as the chair of the Budget Committee in the National Assembly put him at the center of national debates, as most pressing issues were based on taxation and economy. Moreover, he has been known for his infrastructural development in his constituency.

His eloquence and thoughts on national issues put him at the front for political endorsements. When the Kenya Kwanza government ascended to power, Ndindi Nyoro was seen touring the country in what was believed to be a method of garnering support from other regions.

On January 11, 2024, during launch of “Masomo Bora” program in Kiharu constituency, leaders across the country commended his good work and endorsed Ndindi to succeed President Ruto in 2032 and even others advocating for him to be the running mate for Ruto during 2027 elections.

However, in a turn of event during the impeachment of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, his silence was too loud and disturbing. Known for his involvement in national issues and loyalty to president Ruto, the absence and refusal to sign the motion sparked mixed reaction from Kenyans.

Additionally, his silence has not been taken lightly by leaders allied to the President, terming him as disloyal to the president. His recent speech portrayed him as an unfamiliar man, unlike in the past where he publicly supported the government.

“I should not be coming here as a budget Chair to convince people the economy is growing. Its Kenya who should be telling me that the economy is growing," he said.

Is the silence and restrain a strategy to place himself at the right place? Will he be stripped off Chair Budget Committee and how will it turn out?
