Nakuru County Government has embraced its recognition as the second-best county in Kenya for automating citizen service delivery and driving employment creation.

Kenya Vision 2030, working with the State Department for Devolution, placed Nakuru at 87%, just behind Murang’a County, which led with 98.3%. Kiambu followed at 83.9%, Kisumu at 81.2%, and Meru closed the top five at 80.3%.

The ranking measured how easily citizens access services digitally, the reliability of revenue management systems, the use of data and innovation to improve lives, and the strength of job creation programs.

At the award ceremony on February 24, 2026, Principal Secretary for Devolution Michael Lenasalon praised counties that have made bold strides in service automation.

“Under the leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, numerous services have been digitized, significantly improving efficiency and accessibility,” noted the County Government on Facebook.

Nakuru has rolled out a Revenue Management System with a self-service portal that allows residents to pay dues such as land rates from home.

The county has also launched an online recruitment portal, an e-Development and Planning Approval System, and an upgraded, comprehensive website.

Delegates from the Council of Governors, the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, and representatives from counties nationwide attended the event.

Nakuru County reaffirmed its commitment to deepen digital transformation, promising faster, safer, and more reliable access to services for its residents.
