Bahati Constituency is one of the
eleven constituencies in Nakuru County, Kenya. With an estimated population of about 163,000 people according to the 2019 census, Bahati is more than just a geographic unit—it is a political and social stage where everyday life meets national debates.
The constituency plays an important role in both local and national politics, standing out as an active electoral area with
97,040 registered voters.
During the 2022 general elections, these voters were served by 198 polling stations spread across its five wards.
Lanet/Umoja Ward, with 19,251 voters and 39 polling stations, is led by MCA Mwangi
Ngarama. Dundori Ward
counts 15,238 voters and 37 polling stations, represented by MCA Gathuita Mwangi.
These figures tell more than numbers—they reveal the spread of political influence and the infrastructure that anchors democracy in Bahati. Yet Bahati’s story stretches beyond ballots.
Historically, the area carries layers of pastoral activity, British encampment, and Kikuyu settlement, which introduced agriculture and shaped its identity.
Politically, Bahati is now under the
leadership of Irene Mrembo Njoki, elected in 2022 on the Jubilee Party ticket.
Her victory over former MP Kimani Ngunjiri marked a turning point in the constituency’s leadership. Since then, her office has championed community empowerment programs such as the “Akiba na Mrembo” initiative, designed to train and support local groups in accessing government funds and building resilience.
Through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (
NG-CDF), Bahati’s schools have seen tangible upgrades.
Menengai Hills, Muringa, and
Kiamaina Primary Schools have benefited from new classrooms, while Lanet Umoja Primary School received modern facilities that now serve thousands of pupils.
Bahati Constituency’s profile, therefore, is not just about numbers or boundaries. It is about a community balancing history and modernity, politics and development.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Bahati stands as a constituency whose leadership, infrastructure, and people will continue shaping Nakuru’s—and Kenya’s—political narrative.
