President William Ruto will deliver this year’s State of the Nation Address to a joint sitting of Parliament on Thursday, November 20, 2025. This is according to an official notice released by Parliament on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The announcement was jointly signed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, confirming that the sitting will convene at 2:30 p.m. in the National Assembly Chamber, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.

William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, the Speakers of both Houses have convened a special sitting of Parliament to be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 commencing at 2.30 p.m. for purposes of the President’s Address,” the notice reads.
The special sitting is convened under Standing Order 22(2) of the National Assembly and Standing Order 25(2) of the Senate, which outline the procedure for notifying legislators of joint sessions.
Under Article 132(1) of the Constitution, the President is required to address a special sitting of Parliament once every year, reporting on the state of the nation, measures taken to realize national values, the progress of government commitments, and compliance with international obligations.
The annual address offers the Head of State an opportunity to outline priority areas for the coming year, review policy implementation, and highlight achievements and challenges faced by the administration.
