  • The statement added that the hiatus only marks the end of a specific chapter, noting that the band members remain close friends and business partners and will continue to explore other avenues as well as personal projects.

For some time now, there has been speculations, rumours and uncertainties about the break-up of the number one leading music band in Kenya and East Africa, Sauti Sol.

The band had earlier announced that they will take a break from group projects after their forthcoming world tour with a final performance for their home fans on December 16, 2023.

In a statement released on May 20, 2023, Sauti Sol explained that the upcoming tour which will see the band tour the US, Europe and Canada.

"The upcoming tour across the US, Europe and Canada, is a chance for fans to immerse themselves in the magic of Sauti Sol one last time before the band takes a break from group projects for a while," read the statement.

The statement added that the hiatus only marks the end of a specific chapter, noting that the band members remain close friends and business partners and will continue to explore other avenues as well as personal projects.

"With the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter. As close friends and business partners the band members are eager to explore fresh, creative avenues and embark on personal endeavours," added the statement.

Recently, the members came clear about the issue and announced to their fans that they are not breaking up, neither are they quitting, however, the crew will be taking an indefinite hiatus from the Kenyan music scene but each member will hence pursue Music independently

The members went ahead to acknowledge their colleague(students) Nviri and Bensol, whom they believe are now able to stand on their own having obtained a big spot in the Music industry.

Aside from the two, there seem to be a group of artists in the scene who are coming up proving their capabilities and obtaining their spots in the music scene. These artists will definitely take over from Sauti Sol and take the music industry to its next level.

1.Kinoti

One of the artists is Kinoti whose music is taking over the industry by storm.

 Kinoti is a singer and songwriter who also plays musical instruments like the guitar.

He is a recording artist, does fusion of R&B and afro soul drawing his inspiration from occurrences around him on a day-to-day basis this is proven through his music which is very heartfelt and relatable.

Earlier this year his EP 'Green Room' occurred more than 100,000 streams on Spotify and was debuted on the Kenyan music charts at number 19.

 Kinoti in an interview acknowledged that he didn't expect his music to do that well saying he was just trying to put himself out in the music scene.


2.Ethan Muziki

Ethan Muziki's music, is also doing really well considering he's an upcoming artist.

Ethan is a songwriter, producer and an audio engineer who started his music career with the Jadi boy band by Kaka Empire proving that in his amateur years since he has worked with one of the music millennials, King Kaka, hence able to get a good starting platform.

He does a signature genre of music he calls the Sway Live Looping with his music standing on its own, having nice compositions and melodies.

In 2021 he left the band to pursue a solo career and released his debut singer and qu.

Ethan has definitely been accepted and acknowledged in the Music scenes as he has been able have collaborations with other big artists.


3.Venna

Venna is also one of the rising female artists known for her great vocals.

She started off with doing cover songs then went ahead to do her own songs.

Venna proved her capability when she first dropped her banger song ‘Tsunami' and later signed by a record label hence got the support, teamwork and necessary push.


4.Mutoriah

Mutoriah is also another artist who's coming-in in a very great way.

He's an artist and a producer based in Nairobi who does a signature genre called the Electro-Afropop.

Mutoriah draws his music inspiration from a wide genre of music and has produced music for artists like Burna Boy and Sauti sol.

He released his first album in 2019, has been featured in Coke Studio one of the biggest shows and secured a Netflix sync deal for his Extended Play (EP)'Presha'
