Following his unsuccessful bid on the recently concluded African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship Elections in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is now at a crossroads. There are heated debates on whether Raila still has another fight left in him or whether it is time to call it a day.
Will he continue to be with President William Ruto, who backed his AUC candidature and supported him in the current government, or will he make a full-force return to Opposition Politics?
With the 2027 General Elections on the horizon, Raila Odinga could once again rally his supporters to challenge President William Ruto. His presence could re-energize the opposition, especially after the High Court ruled Azimio Coalition as the Majority in the National Assembly.
Kondele residents have called on Raila to try again in the next General Elections. In response, Raila warned Kenyans against blaming President William Ruto for his AUC Elections loss.
Speaking to the media, he stated that he decided to vie for the seat independently and that President Ruto backed his decision, supporting him fully. He expressed his gratitude to President Ruto for providing him with all the logistical and mobilizational support despite losing his seat.
He added that he is walking with his head tall despite his loss in the bid, and he is now returning home as he has many things to do.
