- Where is our morality as a nation? Why do we find it fitting to turn every opportunity into something it wasn’t meant to be? What happened to celebrating Christmas for what it was—a season when God gave His best to the world?
As we head into Christmas, villages are about to come alive as people return home for the holidays. Families will gather, neighbors will reconnect, and old flames will be rekindled. Smiles and greetings will be everywhere.
Yet, behind the façade, many will be projecting themselves as the best thing the village has ever had. Family gatherings often become showrooms for displaying wealth. Some will even borrow or hire cars, suits, furniture, and even "spouses" to impress their village folk.

The son who lives with his parents at home, caring for them all year, will be forgotten when the city-dwelling son arrives with two kilos of sugar and a loaf of bread. Not to mention, this same fellow will return to the city with a car loaded with "free" village goodies. We need to find our moral footing, especially during this season.
I challenge us to be genuine in our hearts as we prepare to celebrate the holidays. To emulate Christ, the reason for the season. He emptied Himself to save humanity. His love was genuine. His coming wasn’t for competition; He came purely for the benefit of others.
Seek the benefit of others this Christmas season. If you give, do it from a genuine heart with no strings attached. Let us strive to find our moral compass during the Christmas season.
