The High Court has reinstated former President Uhuru Kenyatta as the leader of the Jubilee Party, reversing the controversial decision made by the Kanini Kega-Sabina Chege faction that had sought to oust him. The court's decision, delivered on September 30, 2024, also reinstates David Murathe as Vice Chair and Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary General, alongside Treasurer Kagwe Gichoi.

Justice Janet Mulwa nullified the National Executive Committee's decision that had removed the Uhuru Kenyatta faction from the party, providing a sigh of relief for the former president and his allies. The ruling restores the party leadership structure that Kenyatta established during his tenure.

Jeremiah Kioni expressed his gratitude following the court’s decision, stating, “Korti imetoa uamuzi na kuhakikisha kwamba chama kiendelee mbele,” which translates to “The court has made a decision to ensure that the party moves forward.”

In a spirit of reconciliation, Kioni welcomed the rival faction back into the party, saying, “Tunawapokea wote hata wale walikua wametupeleka jortini kwa mikono miwili,” meaning, “We welcome everyone, even those who took us to court, with open arms.”

The ruling marks a pivotal moment for the Jubilee Party, which has faced internal strife and leadership challenges in recent months.
